What Is I Ching Hexagram 44: 姤 “Coming to Meet” ?
Kou is the Chinese name of the I Ching Hexagram 44. With inner and outer trigrams forming heaven over wind, this Hexagram is called ‘coming to meet’ or alternatively named ‘coupling’ or ‘meeting’.
Hexagram 44 shows how easy it can be to fall in line with the wrong type of people. When we become aware of potential danger from negative influences, we must withdraw ourselves immediately.
Interpretation & Meaning of Hexagram 44:
Hexagram 44 is a warning against those who wish to do us harm. Sometimes it is a single individual that can be the cause for the negative influences. Again, it can be hard to first recognize the negativity taking effect.
Perhaps the realization occurs when this one person gives an invitation to meet with others who act in the same way. Once being able to watch others react in the negative way do we realize what mistakes we have made.
There is no weakness from stepping away from the situation and removing yourself from those types of people in the future. In fact, it takes great strength to recognize these negative influences and put into quick action a solution to prevent any harm from being done.
There are many resources available that are put into place in order to bring about these types of changes. Seeking the help and advice of others in these difficult situations can often give light during a time of great darkness.
I Ching Hexagram 44 – Personal Goals:
It can be easy to find ourselves tangled up with the wrong type of people that have a negative influence on our life path. These types of people often pretend to be able to offer something whether that is love, friendship, or a guarantee to success.
It can be a while before the effects of these negative relationships to be recognized, but once they do become apparent, action is needed in order to reverse the effects. Being honest with yourself and those around you who are working against you can help to find a solution to the problem.
It is never too late to make a change for the better after being under the negative influences of others. But the longer you wait, the harder it then becomes to break away from the bad habits and those who influence you to perform the negative actions.
I Ching Hexagram 44 – Love:
If you feel like there is a negative influence in your relationship or in the life of a loved one, be open and honest with clear communication to make others aware of possible danger in their life. Make sure you don’t wait long before acting because negative influences can take hold very quickly.
I Ching Hexagram 44 – Career & Business:
There can be harmful influences at work and it takes practice in order to become aware of them. Once they are detected, steps can be taken in order to avoid any sort of damage. If we do not act immediately, it can be too late to do anything about the situation later.
Don’t underestimate any form of danger or a threat from someone who did not appear harmful in the first place. There is no weakness admitting personal error and taking the time to remove yourself from the negative influence of others. If there is unethical behavior being performed in the work area, take action to make sure it is corrected and removed from the area.
THE JUDGMENT POEM

One should not marry such a maiden.
THE IMAGE POEM
Under heaven, wind:
The image of COMING TO MEET.
Thus does the prince act when disseminating his commands
And proclaiming them to the four quarters of heaven.
Hexagram 44 is a warning of possible negative influences and action must be taken in order to prepare the mind and body from any harm that might be coming about. It is also equally important not to underestimate any negative influences. Evil is never easy to understand and what forms it might be trying to take in our life path.
