Dierks Bentley is an American singer and songwriter. Born on November 20, 1975, he has released several albums and top charted singles. Dierks Bentley released a self-titled debut album under Capitol Nashville in 2003. The album was certified platinum in the United States. He followed it with the second album Modern Day Drifter, 2005, which also certified gold. 

The album Long Trip Alone, 2006 produced hits songs like Every Mile a Memory andFree and Easy(Down the Road I Go). He has since released several albums with many of them producing top hit singles on the Country Airplay and Hot Country Songs charts.

Early Life

Dierks Bentley was born on November 20, 1975, in Phoenix, Arizona. He was born to Leon Fife Bentley and Catherine Childs. The middle name Dierk is the surname of his maternal great-grandmother. Bentley received education at Culver Academies in Indiana and continued at The Lawrenceville School in New Jersey. After graduating, he enrolled at the University of Vermont where he spent just a year. He then continued at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee graduating in 1997.

Music Career

Dierks Bentley’s debut album was a self-titled released under the Capitol Nashville in 2003. The album’s first single What Was I Thinkin peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart that same year. The album, which certified Platinum by the RIAA also produced singles like My Last Name and How Am I Doin, also charting on the Billboard.

After enjoying the success of the first album, Dierks Bentley released the Platinum classified second album Modern Day Drifter also under Capitol Nashville in 2005. Modern Day Drifter produced two number one hit singles Come a Little Closer and Settle for a Slowdown. Lot of Leavin’ Left to Do was also a top 5 hit. The won the CMA Award for the Horizon Award (currently Best New Artist) in 2005. He was also inducted as a member of the Grand Ole Opry on October 1, 2005.

His third album released on Long Trip Alone on June 10, 2006, contained two number 1 hits Every Mile a Memory and Free and Easy (Down the Road I Go) with the title track reaching number 10 on the country charts.

He released the Greatest Hits/Every Mile a Memory 2003-2008 album on May 6, 2008, and that was followed by the fourth studio album, Feel That Fire in 2009. His other albums include Up on the Ridge, 2010, Home, 2012, (produced the single Am I the Only One, which peaked to No. 1 on the Billboard Country Singles) and Riser, 2014. In 2015, he featured on Charles Kelley’s debut solo single, The Driver, alongside Eric Paslay. It received a nomination for Best Country Duo/Group Performance at the 58th Annual Grammy Awards. Dierks Bentley has also released albums including Black, 2016, and The Mountain, which is to be released in 2018. He, however, released the lead single on the album, Women, Amen on January 17, 20189. The album also features Tim O’Brien, Sam Bush, and Jerry Douglas and made collaborations with Brothers Osborne and Brandy Carlile.

On April 3, 2016, he co-hosted the 51st Academy of Country Music Awards.

Personal Life

On December 17, 2005, Dierks Bentley married Cassidy Black in Mexico. They have two daughters Evelyn "Evie" Day Bentley and Jordan Catherine Bentley and a son Knox Bentley. The family lives in Nashville. Dierks Bentley has a Cirrus SR22 and holds a pilot license.
