Fountains For good Feng Shui
Fountains are by nature of Yang energy. They are used in Feng Shui to activate wealth luck in specific sectors, such as the South-East (wealth), the East (prosperity & health), and the North (career/work). Each of these sectors is associated with a particular element: South-East & East: Wood / North: Water.
Thus it is very much appropriate to place a wooden fountain in the South-East or the East, and a metal fountain in the North (metal produces water in the cycle of the elements) Fountains are considered as wealth activators in Feng Shui. When properly located, they can enhance the wealth of luck quite dramatically.
Right Fountain Placement
Finding the right position – Remember to always place your fountain with the water flow directed towards your home, not away from it (you may experience the opposite of the expected result!). Choose your fountain carefully: its elements/shapes must be in agreement with the sector in which you will place it; if you have a small home, don’t choose a large fountain (excess Yang energy will disrupt the balance of Chi in your home); finally, make sure it is regularly cleaned up and filled (not enough water may damage the pump).
Finding the right placement for your fountain is something to be considered skillfully. We can determine this placement using the Flying Stars approach, using the Water star #8. We saw that four cycles interconnect the five elements Water, Wood, Fire, Earth, and Metal, namely production, destruction, support, and exhaustion.
These cycles are used to balance the elements. Depending on the orientation and date of construction of your habitat, the Water star #8 may be positioned in any sector. That’s why we need to be careful about fountain positioning so that its elements do not conflict with the sector in which it is placed.
Choosing the right element
The following is a list of possible elements that may be used in specific sectors. We recommend the safe use of fountains in the North, East, and South-East sectors, but please check with a Feng Shui consultant to use them in other sectors.
North: its element being Water, use a metal fountain (Metal produces Water). Prefer round shapes, white/black/deep blue colors. – North-East: its element is Earth, use a stone fountain. Prefer square shapes, ochre, red colors. – East: its element being Wood, use a wooden fountain or a stone fountain (Earth supports Wood).
Prefer rectangular shapes, green/deep blue/black colors. – South-East: its element being also Wood, use also a wooden fountain or a stone fountain (Earth supports Wood). Prefer rectangular shapes, green/deep blue/black colors. South: its element being Fire, use a wooden fountain (Wood produces Fire), but make sure the fountain is small in size and that its water flow is lit with an external light directed on it. Prefer rectangular shapes, green/red colors.
South-West: its element is Earth, use a stone fountain. Prefer square shapes, ochre/red colors. West: its element being Metal, use a metal fountain or a stone fountain (Earth produces Metal). Prefer round/square shapes, white/grey/ochre colors. Make sure the water flow is not too important as Water exhausts Metal.
North-West: its element being Metal, use a metal fountain or a stone fountain (Earth produces Metal). Prefer round/square shapes, white/grey/ochre colors. Make sure the water flow is not too important as Water exhausts Metal.
