Children from the ages of five to ten are the most likely age group to get worms. Signs that your child might have pinworms is if you child complains of an itchy rectum. The pain is often the worst at night because that’s when the worms come out of the anus to lay their eggs.
Even though it sounds terrible, it doesn’t actually hurt the child too badly. Rarely do serious health issues come up because of a pinworm infection.
Pinworms are caused by eating unsanitary food and sleeping on a bed with sheets that may have pinworms eggs in them. Make sure to fully cook and clean your food before feeding your children.
Also make sure to clean your bed sheets regularly, and make sure when you go to hotels that the sheets have been changed recently.
Many children who get pinworms do not show any symptoms. Like I mentioned before, the most common symptom is the itchy rectum. Luckily, pinworms rarely travel farther than the anus, so the rest of your child’s body should be safe from the worms.
If you can actually see the worms on your child or in their stool, then you should take them to the doctor for proper treatment. If it hasn’t gotten that far, then here are some simple natural home remedies that may be able to help.
8 Home Remedies For Pinworms
#1. Clean Everything
Pinworms can be spread from person to person very easily. Wash your child’s bedsheets and everything else that they might have touched while infected. While this will be a lot of work, it is important to do if you don’t want the worms to spread to other members of your household.
Eating garlic is a natural remedy that can help to kill pinworms. Have your child eat a clove of garlic a day. If your child is a picky eater, try to mix it in with their other food.
Garlic can also be added to Vaseline and rubbed around your child’s rectum. Doing this can help to kill some of the worm eggs and ease itching.
Get a cup full of shredded, raw carrots. If your child eats them it could help push the worms out of their intestines. This could be less effective home remedy than garlic, but children are more likely to eat carrots.
#4. Food-grade Diatomaceous Earth
Kind of dirt or chalk-like in substance, diatomaceous earth is a good natural home remedy for pinworms. When your child eats this it can slowly dehydrate the pinworms, eventually killing them. Make sure the earth is food-grade before feeding it to your child.

Tell your children to try to refrain from scratching their rectum. If your child scratches, then eggs could be trapped under their fingernails and transported to the things they touch, and then if someone else touches the eggs then they could get pinworms as well.
#6. Limit Sugar
Children with high-sugar diets are the most likely to get pinworms. Try to limit your child’s sugar input to try to reduce the chance of getting pinworms. Worms can thrive in sugary environments. Try to feed your child more fruits and vegetables and whole grains to avoid an infestation.
#7. Apple Cider Vinegar
Apple cider vinegar is a helpful way to get rid of pinworms. By drinking this it makes a hostile environment for the worms to live in. Put a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar into a glass of water and drink it at least once a day. Do not use normal vinegar.
#8. Get Medicine
