10 Natural Home Remedies For Scars
Scars can be annoying and unattractive, so it’s no wonder that so many people that want to remove their scars.
While it is hard to fully remove a scar without medical intervention, you can still easily fade a scar at home. This article lists some simple and inexpensive home remedies to prevent scars and how to fade them once you already have them.
#1. Wound Care
There are a few natural remedies that you can do in order to prevent a scar from forming after you are injured. Fist, properly clean out your wound with warm soapy water. It is best if you use antibacterial soap for this.
If you have a large cut, stop and check for debris. If there is any, rinse it out with water or pick it out with tweezers. Once your wound is clean you should rub some sort of antibacterial cream on it and then wrap it up in a bandage to keep infection out.
As your wound starts to heal you can moisturize it to reduce the chance that it will form a scar.
You can use any type of moisturizer that you want to do this. Using more antibacterial cream is also a good idea to use as well, as it can work much like a moisturizer.
As well as using moisturizer, you should try to massage the area around your wound. The movement can prevent tissues from building up in one spot, which is one thing that can cause scars. To keep things simple, you may want to massage the area every time you moisturize it.
#4. Lemon Juice
Lemon juice is a sort of natural skin lightener, and it can be used to lighten your scar as well. Dip a cotton ball into some lemon juice and hold this onto your scar. Hold this on your scar for at least ten minutes. When you are done, rinse off the juice with cold water and apply moisturizer. Do this once a day.
Bananas is a natural home remedy can be used to moisturize your skin around the scar. You can do this as your scar is healing or you can do it once you have a scar. Mash up a banana and add in a couple of tablespoons of milk. Take a little bit of this mash and put it on your scar. Leave this on your scar for at least fifteen minutes. Do this once a day.
#6. Aloe Vera Gel
Like bananas, aloe vera gel can be used as a natural remedy while your wound is healing or after you already have a scar.
Aloe vera gel can help to more effectively heal a wound so that a scar is less likely to form. If you already have a scar then aloe vera can be rubbed on it to moisturize your skin and lighten your scar.
#7. Tea Tree Oil
Over time tea tree oil can help to remove scars. However, tea tree oil is powerful, so if you have sensitive skin you may not want to use this. Even if you don’t have sensitive skin you should still dilute it with water.
Put a little bit of the oil with a quarter cup of warm water. Dip a cotton ball into this solution and rub this on your scar for five minutes. A little bit of stinging is normal; if you are feeling a lot of stinging, then you should stop using tea tree oil.
#8. Olive Oil
Olive oil is another great oil that can help to fade your scars. Unlike tea tree oil, olive oil should not sting at all. Take a tablespoon of olive oil and massage it into your scar and the skin around it for five minutes. Once the five minutes are up, let the oil sit for another ten minutes. When the ten minutes are up, wipe off the excess oil with a dry towel; do not immediately rinse the oil off.
#9. Coconut Oil
Coconut oil can help to fade your scars, along with moisturizing your skin. Massage a teaspoon of coconut oil into your skin for about five minutes and then let it sit for another five. Like olive oil, when the time is up you should wipe off the excess oil with a dry cloth. You can do this as often as twice a day.
If all these natural remedies fail, you can always put a little bit of makeup over your scar. You may want to do this while you are in the process of trying to fade your scar. Using concealer is a great way to hide your scars until it is fully faded.
