Childhood And Early Life
Mariela Griffor was born on the 29 September 1961 in Concepcion Chile.
After leaving the school, Mariela Griffor did tertiary studies at the University of Santiago and the Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro. She later obtained a bachelor of arts in journalism from Wayne State University and an M.F.A in Creative Writing from New England College.
Mariela Griffor moved to Sweden in 1985. Her first book of poetry Exiliana was published in 2007. This was followed by three more books: House (2007), The Psychiatrist (2013), Resolana (2013) and Declassified (2017).
She is the co-founder of Wayne State University’s Institute for Creative Writers as well as the publisher of Marick Press.
Chile appointed Mariela Griffor, their honorary consul in Michigan.
Mariela Griffor settled in the United States in 1998 with her American husband and two daughters.
