 #1. Reduce Screen Time

One reason why eyes can appear puffy is because they have become dried out or otherwise irritated. One of the biggest things that affect eye-health in today’s world is how much time people spend staring at screens.

Working on a computer all day for work, and then going home to watch television to relax can greatly affect the way that your eyes feel. To combat this cause, the best home remedy is to give your eyes a break from the screen. Take a break from staring at a screen for a few minutes once every half hour or so.

#2. Stay Hydrated

One reason why a person will get puffy eyes is because they are dehydrated. The best natural remedy to combat this cause is to simply drink more water and less caffeinated and alcoholic beverages, which can actually dehydrate you.

To make sure that you are properly hydrated you should try to drink at least six to eight glasses of water a day.

#3. Get More Sleep

The amount of sleep that you get can also affect how puffy your eyes are. If you do not get enough sleep, then your eyes can become overtired, causing the skin around then to appear puffy. The average person needs about eight hours of sleep to function correctly (and to not have puffy eyes). Try to get this much sleep every night. If you cannot, then try to take naps during the day to make up for lost time.

#4. Treat Allergies

Bad reactions to food and pollen allergies can also cause a person’s eyes to become puffy. Avoid all of the foods that you are allergic to. When it is pollen season you can wear sunglasses to keep much of the pollen out of your eyes. Also, taking allergy pills is another great way to avoid having pollen give you swollen eyes.

#5. Limit Sodium Intake

Eating foods that are full of sodium can actually make your eyes more puffy. One of the easiest home remedies to reduce your sodium intake is to eat less fast food and processed food. Making your own meals at home ensues that you know how much sodium you are putting into your body. Also, try not to add extra salt to your food; use other seasonings as well. This is a great way to make your meals tastiest without adding more salt to your body. Limiting your sodium intake can help with many other health issues as well.

#6. Cold Compress

If your eyes do get puffy, then you can use a cold compress to make them feel better and get less puffy over time. Soak a small towel in cold water.

Close your eyes and put the towel on top of your eyelids. This should take a few minutes, depending on how puffy your eyes are. You can use this eye treatment as often as you need to.

#7. Tea Bags

Putting tea bags on your eyes can help to make them less puffy as well. Heat the tea bags like you would to make tea.

After that, cool them so that they become chilled. Once cold, you can place one tea bag on each of your closed eyes. This natural remedy works in much of the same way as a cold compress does. You can use this as long as the tea bags stay cold.

#8. Cucumbers

Lastly, you can also put cucumber slices on your eyes to make your eyes look less puffy. In films they often show women doing this in spas, and this is because it works for many eye-appearance related issues. Placing chilled cucumbers on your eyes works like a cold compress. This natural remedy can even lighten dark circles under your eyes as well. You can do this as often as once a day.

Hopefully these natural home remedies can help with your puffy eyes.
