Once a day rub a dollop of sour cream to the area with freckles. Let the cream dry for 10 minutes and they rinse off with a damp paper towel or wash cloth.

After you wipe off the area, apply a generous amount of moisturizer or lotion to the targeted area. The lactic acid from the sour cream causes your skin to peel away without becoming irritated or dry.

This gives the skin an opportunity to open up its pores and allow the honey to sink deep within. After rinsing with warm water, rinse the same area again with cold water to shrink the pores and lock in the natural honey goodness. Repeat this daily for 2-3 weeks.

Buttermilk has a bleaching property that helps fade the look of freckles and leave skin feeling silky smooth. Repeat once daily for the best results. Simply paint on the buttermilk with a brush to the affected area, and let it sit for 10 minutes. After, rinse with warm water. As an alternative, mix together plain powered oatmeal with buttermilk until you get a thick, paste-like consistency. Apply the paste to freckles and let sit for 30 minutes, then rinse.


#5. Castor Oil

Castor oil is another natural home remedy that has high amounts of vitamin E, which is known for its ability to almost erase blemishes from the skin. Repeat daily until you get the results you’re happy with. Take the castor oil and apply it to the freckled area, leave overnight and rinse off with a wet cloth first thing in the morning. (TIPS: Go for an odorless castor oil, and try to sleep on your back to prevent getting the oil all over your sheets.)

#6. Horseradish

Horseradish is high in vitamin C, which makes it great for naturally diminishing freckles as well as maintaining younger looking skin. There are a couple different ways you can utilize horseradish to help with the fight against freckles. One option is using horseradish juice. Apply the juice to the freckles and let it sit for 5 minutes then rinse with cool water. Repeat twice a week.

Another option is to use horseradish powder. Take 1 tablespoon and mix it with 1 cup of buttermilk. Bring the mixture to a boil, this should take about 5 minutes. Then let the mixture cool, then strain it. Apply this solution to the targeted area and let sit for 10 minutes. Afterwards, wash your face with warm water. Repeat 4-5 times a week to lighten the appearance of freckles.

Last but not least, option number three, grated horseradish. Grate some fresh horseradish into a container, then mix in some freshly squeezed lemon juice. Use two parts horseradish for every one part lemon juice. Combine the two until you have a nice thick paste. Slather the paste all over the freckled area and let sit for about 15 minutes or until dry. Rinse the solution off with warm water, then again with cold. For best results repeat twice a week.

Eggplant is one of the best natural remedies that is full of antioxidants that turn dark spots into lighter, and more uniform in color. First, take one eggplant and slice it (TIP: leave the skin on, it’s full of antioxidants) place it in a pot of water and boil until soft. Then, drain the water and leave the eggplant in the pot, add in 1 table spoon of lemon juice, 1 good squeeze of honey (about 2 tablespoons) and 1 tablespoon of castor oil.

Mash all the ingredients together until completely combined (I cheated and used a food processor, it comes out smoother). Apply the mask to the freckles and let sit for 20-30 minutes. Rinse with warm water and repeat once daily for 2 weeks for noticeably lighter freckles. You can put the left over mixture in a container and store it in the fridge for up to 2 weeks!


#8. Papaya

Papaya is full of antioxidants just like the eggplant, but more specifically eggplant contains papain. Papain is an enzyme that has a lightening affect to it. It can also be found in whitening toothpaste for the same affect. Start by taking one fresh papaya, cutting it and remove all the seeds and squeeze it to obtain its juices.

Begin by taking a wash cloth and soaking it in hot water, ring out the water to leave a damp cloth, then drape it over your face and let the warm steam open up all your pores. Then, take the juice and massage it into the freckled skin. Let it sit for 10-15 minutes then rinse with cold water. Repeat once a day for 2 weeks, or until you reach the complexion you desire.

I know what you’re thinking… “Really..? Onion? I can’t even cut the things without crying, why would I want to use it on my skin?” But the answer is yes, you may smell a little funny after this treatment but that’s okay! That’s what showers and great smelling lotions are for. Anyways, onions have a high sulfur content that has a way of practically exfoliating the freckles right off! Just make sure you grab red ones.

Begin by peeling and cutting the onion in 2 halves. Then juice it and combine ¼ cup of onion juice with 1 teaspoon of apple cider vinegar and ¼ cup of raw sugar to make a scrub. Paste on the scrub and massage with warm water for several minutes, then rinse and apply moisturizer. Repeat once every 3 days for about 2 weeks to obtain noticeably lighter freckles!

#10. Turmeric & Sesame Seeds

Take 1 tablespoon of ground sesame seeds and combine it with 1 tablespoon of turmeric powder. Add in a splash of water until you’ve created and thick paste and then apply it to your freckles. Let sit for about 15 minutes and rinse with warm water. Repeat daily to reduce the darkness of freckles.
